Welcome to our profile!

We are an active, playful couple who love adventure. We enjoy learning and appreciate a challenge. We have a strong, loving relationship and look forward to interweaving our lives with the life of a child.

Who are we?

We love spending time outside, particularly in water or in the mountains. In the summer, we can usually be found at the lake. Christa swims as often as possible and can't wait to bring a child to the beach for a day of swimming and playing in the sand. Kyle has a background in wildlife biology and can't wait to teach a child about nature.

When the weather cools down each autumn, Kyle heads up into our back woods (where we have 50 acres of land) for deer hunting while Christa spends Saturday mornings baking pies, breads, and around the holidays, Christmas cookies. Just as Kyle hopes to take our children hunting and fishing, Christa looks forward to time in the kitchen teaching children to bake and cook as her mom did with her. Since we also enjoy learning new things, we are excited about the possibilities of our children introducing us to new interests. Sunday is usually our downtime and we imagine that when our children are older and involved in activities, Sundays will be reserved for family.

Each winter we hope for a lot of snow so we can go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. Friday and Saturday nights are often spent at the arena, where we have season tickets to college hockey games (we already have an infant jersey picked out).

As the weather warms up again, Christa begins training for her annual 13k trail run and Kyle heads back out into the woods in search of turkeys. At lunchtime, we meet up and head to the farmers market for lunch.

How do we do all of this?

We are fortunate to have jobs we love. We met in graduate school for education and now we both work for a university. Kyle is an admissions counselor, recruiting and selecting talented youth and Christa works in career services, assisting students with identifying careers and obtaining jobs that best utilize their skills and talents.

Where do we live?

Our house sits on our own 50 acre private playground just 3 miles from the lake where we swim, fish, kayak, and enjoy our boat. Our small, diverse city in New York's Finger Lakes boasts numerous cultural activities, an excellent school system, and a world-class university.

What type of parents will we be?

We will:
  • encourage our children to be who they want to be

  • introduce our children to a variety of opportunities, everything from sports to music, hunting to theater, traveling the world to exploring our back yard

  • teach our children to be respectful of people and the environment

  • instill in our children a strong work ethic, an appreciation for learning, and a sense of responsibility to give back to the community.

We each have many fond memories of childhood and look forward to creating fun, loving memories with our children.

Thank you for considering us as potential parents. We look forward to talking with you.
