Welcome to our profile!

We're Steve and Alyse, and we are so excited to become parents! We are in awe of your compassion and strength for considering an adoption plan. And we're humbled and grateful that you are considering us to be the parents in your child's life story.

To help tell our story, we keep a memory box filled with cards and notes we've given each other along with lots of other meaningful trinkets. When we look at them, we tell each other their histories over and over again...and it makes us both smile.

We hope from the following snapshot of our life together, you'll get a good sense of who we are and the loving, nurturing home we would assuredly give your child.

This profile would be the first thing we'd put in their memory box. And when we look at it together, they'd know the admiration we feel for you and how thankful we are that we're a family. We'd tell them their history over and over again...and it would make us all smile.

Our Life

Soon after we met, we knew we would be married and spend our lives together. We just clicked. We're both kids at heart, have the same offbeat sense of humor and easily make each other laugh. It didn't take us long to build a solid relationship based on teamwork, respect, friendship and tremendous love. We also knew that we wanted a family and that we'd be taking this journey toward adoption.

We love living in New York City where there's always plenty to do. We see comedy shows and plays, and go to museums and concerts. We've even taken a ballroom dance class. (Lets just say, you wont see us on Dancing with the Stars!) We like kicking back too...picnicking, bowling, and going to baseball games. We also enjoy traveling, taking relaxing beach vacations and weekend trips to the country. We have a good time no matter where we are...it's being with one another that's important, and we are happy simply hanging out with our friends and having family dinners.

We have a wonderful life together and we're excited to share our love with a child. We're dedicated to creating a home filled with curiosity and wonder, tolerance and appreciation, silly songs and made-up tales, hugs and kisses, laughter and love.

Alyse Knows Steve Will Be a Great Dad

Steve is a business owner. He publishes a magazine about events and trends in New York City. I am so proud of him. He's hard-working, dedicated, principled, and has a strong work ethic. While he strives for success, he is solidly grounded and his priorities are at home.

Steve's a natural caregiver. He participated in a Big Brother program for several years, provides Thanksgiving dinner to the disadvantaged, and is devoted to his family and friends. He's always ready to lend a helping hand and an empathetic ear.

He loves sports, especially football and tennis, and has an awesome sense of humor. Our friends little boy cracks up when Steve does his horse impression and calls him, "AlyseSteveFunny!"

In fact, Steve performs stand-up comedy...he even auditioned for Last Comic Standing!

Steve has a natural way with children of all ages. Our youngest niece, Lily, knows she will always have fun with her favorite uncle, whether he's applauding her piano recitals, building snowmen, playing Marco Polo or teaching her magic tricks.

He's genuinely close with our five teenage nieces and nephews, texting often, and being a big part of their lives. He makes them all feel uniquely special, enthusiastically cheering all their accomplishments. They adore him, and have nicknamed him "U.S.R.," short for Uncle Steve Rocks!

Steve is simply a good guy. The love and admiration he receives is a reflection of the love he gives. I know, with all my heart, he will be a compassionate, involved, supportive, wonderful dad.

Steve Knows Alyse Will Be an Amazing Mom

Alyse is a freelance graphic designer. She also works part-time as a production assistant in the media department of a major theater company. She puts her creative touch on everything she does and wakes me up most mornings singing her funny version of a Broadway show tune.

Alyse loves art, music, theater, books and pop culture. She tap dances, skis and has traveled all over the world. She can't wait to share these passions with a child.

Alyse has unlimited patience when it comes to children. She knows what kids like and is able to relate to them on their level. She makes the best Play-Doh animals you've ever seen, organizes scavenger hunts and just has a knack for making children feel important and loved.

You can see the adoration in our niece Lily's eyes when she is with Alyse. They share a special connection. During sleepovers, Alyse makes up stories, plays dress up, creates art projects and reads books with her. Even helping with chores becomes an adventure, and Lily says she "wants to wash all of the baby's laundry!"

Our older nieces and nephews love visiting us, and Alyse always makes sure they have a true New York experience. We check out exhibits, shop at flea markets, explore vintage record stores, see musicals, and try all different types of food.

Alyse notices the extraordinary things in ordinary life, and she encourages children to fully see the world around them and make their own observations. When I see her holding an infant, I just melt. I can't wait to see her as the caring, intuitive, dedicated, stay-at-home mom I know she'll be.

Our Families

We're both extremely fortunate to have tight-knit, supportive families. We know we can count on their consistent, unconditional love and unquestioned availability. Everyone is thrilled that we'll be adding a new member!

Steve's large family lives in Maryland. We have a wonderfully close relationship with his parents, brother, sister, nieces, nephews, cousins and even second cousins. We visit every few months and everyone clamors for us to stay with them!

Our nieces and nephews all want to babysit their new cousin.

Alyse's small family lives in New York. We have a genuine friendship with her folks, who are a steadfast support system and live less than 10 miles away. And we're exceptionally close with Alyse's sister and her family. They live just across town so we get to spend a lot of time together.

Alyse's folks can't wait to be grandparents for the second time.

Our Home

We own our sunny apartment and even have a five-acre private park as our "backyard." It has jungle gyms, sprinklers, lots of grassy lawns, basketball courts, a roller hockey rink and picnic tables. We also have a children's playroom in our building with tons of toys and books.

A few blocks away, there's a bike path and river walk. In the summertime, there are carnivals, concerts, puppet shows and petting zoos.

A top elementary school is right across the street. And we're lucky enough to live within walking distance of the Central Park Zoo, the Children's Museum, American Museum of Natural History and Hayden Planetarium. The rest of our exciting city is only a subway ride away.

Our Commitment

We are eager and ready for the joys and responsibilities of raising a child. With unlimited love to share, we're committed to teaching them to be a capable, confident, creative, courageous and compassionate human being.

We will encourage self-assurance, independent thinking, the desire to learn and the passion to play.

Most importantly, they will be deeply loved.

Our Thanks

Thank you for reading our story. We believe your child's story begins with you, and we'd love to get to know you better. If we're familiar with your interests, hobbies and talents, we can explore them with your child and nurture their natural gifts. Through our shared openness, they will always be proud of you...and who you are.

With incredible respect and gratitude,

Alyse & Steve
