We are Linda and Tineke. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about us.

YOU

Although we do not know your situation, you must face a difficult decision and we want you to know that our thoughts are with you. Whatever you decide from your heart will always be the right choice for you and your child.

PARENTING

If you consider an adoption plan we would be thrilled to be part of it and we would love to parent your child. A little over two years ago Thomas came into our lives and from the very first day we have been his proud parents and love every minute of it! Now he is growing into a very happy and energetic toddler, he is crazy about cars, our cat Rikki, trains, music and picture books.

OPEN

We are excited to continue growing our family through adoption, and we would look forward to building a healthy, respectful relationship with you. We would like you to always be an important part of your child's life and want to share stories and pictures, if that's something you feel comfortable with.

TOGETHER

We have been in a relationship for fifteen years. We both grew up in Holland and moved together to the United States about eight years ago.

WORK

Both of us are in the fortunate position to have steady careers. Linda is a project manager at an international bank and Tineke works for the Dutch consulate. We both work flexible schedules which allows us to spend extensive time with Thomas at home. Thomas goes to day-care three days a week, he loves to play with the other kids and he likes to make art projects and to learn new songs.

HOME

Our house is spacious, we value our time together at the dinner table, listening to music and discussing the things of the day. Lots of times we have friends or family over for dinner or a playdate and often times at home we just relax, watch movies, read or play games.

RELAX

We live in a very diverse, family-oriented neighborhood in New York City. In our community kids love to play in the common garden of our building, or the playgrounds and parks that are within walking distance from our home. In the summer we frequent the pool and the beach. At the beach Thomas usually bakes sand cakes and runs back and forth to the ocean to collect water into his bucket.

COMMUNITY

We enjoy the city we live in; for us that means biking in the city parks, go to see a sports match, going out with friends to a restaurant, to a museum and to the theater, or just walking through the streets. As much as we are city people that love the energy and diversity of the urban environment, we enjoy being outdoors.

FUN

Whenever we have a chance you will find us camping, at the beach, hiking, biking or snowboarding. Tineke runs, she completed the NYC marathon two years ago. We have a family membership at the YMCA; Linda takes yoga and spinning classes and Thomas’ started swimming classes. Saturday mornings we go to a class called ‘rumble and tumble’ that is all about running around, climbing, learning about body parts, colors and doing somersaults.

OUTDOORS

We very much encourage that kids find the sports or activity they are passionate about and of course join them as much as we can.

LEARNING

Fortunately, we have had the opportunity to travel to and to live in different parts of the world and get to know, experience and appreciate a variety of cultures.

TRAVEL

Thomas also loves travelling, we went on several trips within the country and abroad, we also went to visit the grandparents and family in Holland a couple of times.

FAMILY

Our parents and siblings frequently visit us and spend their vacations with us. Linda comes from a family of three and has two nephews. Tineke is also the youngest of three siblings and has three nieces and two nephews. Together we are the godparents of five of our nieces and nephews. In our direct circle of friends there are multi-racial families like ours and also with adopted children. We regularly have playdates in the park and in the winter we go to an indoor playground or a children's museum together.

Both of our parents are retired and healthy grandparents. The whole family is excited about our plans to adopt again and they all look forward to welcoming a new member to the family.

THEN

We both have been raised in loving and supportive families. Our parents encouraged us to study hard in school and to be the best we can. Our upbringing brought us to a point in life where we were able and ready to choose our own path and become ourselves. That made us into compassionate, confident and open individuals today who enjoy life, value little things and are thankful for all that life has brought us.

NOW

We will try our utmost to pass those values along, and will support our children as much as we can to excel both academically and personally.

Hopefully, this gives you an impression of who we are and who we would like to be as a family. We know considering an adoption plan is hard and we want you to know that we respect you for your selflessness, strength and courage. Please know that we are ready and willing to parent your child.
