When we think of FIA, we think of
a little farmhouse in Middletown Springs, Vermont. We think of it as a secure
and permanent place, where all of our families began or grew. What most of us
do not realize is that the farmhouse is leased, the facilities are outmoded, and
our family case files are not permanently archived in fireproofed storage. We
also no longer have space for welcoming new people to FIA now that Priscilla’s
B&B next door has closed. Our dream is to provide a Forever Home for FIA,
permanently owned by the agency and remodeled to meet its increasingly complex
needs. Within this permanent home, we dream of creating a safe and private facility
to store and access our family case files. We also dream of hosting Get Acquainted
Weekends in our own comfortable conference space. |

Through this campaign,
we will:
- Purchase the property from the current landlord,
who is willing to sell;
- Renovate and upgrade the existing farmhouse to expand
and improve office space for agency staff;
- Build an addition onto the rear of the farmhouse
to create a Family History Center with an archive
facility, and conference, meeting, and private client
consultation spaces; and,
- Create a small endowment to generate annual income
to support ongoing maintenance of the new and improved
facilities.
When finished,
the new and existing buildings will be modern facilities with all of the capabilities
needed to support a 21st century agency. They will also retain the look and feel
of the little Vermont farmhouse on South Street that we think of when we think
of FIA.
FIA families and friends can make these dreams come
true by supporting this first-ever capital campaign
to raise $1.25 million by 2007. Our Board of Directors
and staff have together contributed 26% of the goal,
pledging a total of $322,000 with 100% participation! | WHAT
