Adoption is not giving up on a child.
Adoption is a selfless act of love for the child.

Adoption is an act of love

One of the questions that we often hear from pregnant women facing an unplanned pregnancy is "how do I give my baby up for adoption?"

When a birth mother is considering adoption for her baby, it is much more than just "give baby up for adoption". It means making an adoption plan for her child, and it means a lot of courage and incredible sacrifice on her part. She knows she is giving her baby a future in a warm and loving home, full of laughter, hugs, kisses.

FIA offers each birth mother access to adoption profiles of our waiting families. They are beautiful books with detailed pictures and text about the adoptive families. By reading and selecting family adoption profiles, a birthmother is able to review potential adoptive parents who are ready, willing and able to adopt a child anywhere in the United States. By selecting waiting families, the birthmother is in control of who will adopt her baby. She is not giving up her baby, she is choosing a life she dreams for her baby.

"Placing my child for adoption was a decision I had thought about alot while I was pregnant and I knew that's what I wanted for my baby. I was unable to give him or her all that they needed. I was lucky and got to meet the adoptive parents that I chose for my baby and form a relationship with them for 3 months. They were there at our daughter's birth. I spent 3 days with my daughter and her adoptive parents in the hospital. I got to see them form that parent/child bond and that was really special. I really felt like I had made the right choice and since I knew where she was going to be over the years that just made it better." (From Heidi - A Birth Mother).

FIA has a kind, caring staff that will guide you through all you need to know about the adoption process, so you can make an informed decision.

Who is FIA

Friends in Adoption (FIA) is a licensed adoption agency founded by an adoptive mother who saw that the many needs of birth parents and adoptive families were not being met in adoption situations.

FIA is a non-profit, non-traditional, licensed adoption agency whose goal is to help people make informed decisions. FIA works with both those interested in adopting and with pregnant women/couples considering placing their baby with adoptive families.

Unlike other adoption agencies, FIA is committed to equality in adoption. This means, among other things, that we do not discriminate based on marital status, religion, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation.
