November is National Adoption Awareness Month

Friends in Adoption celebrates National Adoption Awareness Month with Real-Life Story Videos

Friends in Adoption is sharing adoption stories in November in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month. It has been one of FIA’s major goals to inform and educate the general public in order to make a difference for those in the adoption triad.

The best awareness of adoption comes from real life stories. We encourage everyone who is comfortable opening up to share their stories during National Adoption Month with as many people as possible, in person, via social media, or in other ways. FIA firmly believes that the intricate details of each individual’s adoption story belong to them to share, and all the details of a child’s adoption story should be shared with the child first. One’s own experiences are their own to keep private or open up about. And although it is important to protect one another’s privacy and to be tactful, the more of our own successful journeys we share, the more understanding there will be, making easier the challenges of adoption for everyone.

Adoption is something to be celebrated, an act of love, and one of many ways to make a family. We are committed to promoting inclusiveness, celebrating the uniqueness of each person, empowering individuals and families and know that respect for adoption benefits interactions for all.
