“Adoptions a year-round effort for support agency”
November is officially National Adoption Month, but for Friends in Adoption every month is adoption month: The organization works year-round to facilitate adoptions and support everyone involved in the process.
“The adoption process is not easy and the journey to our daughter … it was scary at times,” said Katie Jabour, an adoptive mom. “We were so thankful to have Friends in Adoption there to guide us, support us, and they’re still there for us today.”
The nonprofit adoption agency helps both pregnant individuals considering adoption and families looking to adopt, placing about 30 children a year. Most of its clients are in the Northeast, where FIA is based, but the agency works nationwide and has done adoptions across the country.
FIA is explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly and has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign for its work.
“We just welcome everyone, and then the birth parents can decide who they think the best family will be for their child,” said Tara Saltis, executive director.
