Thank you for visiting our adoption profile! We are Kyle and Brian — a fun, enthusiastic couple looking to grow our family through adoption. We are deeply grateful that you are considering adoption as an option for your child and recognize the incredible courage and strength it must take to explore this possibility. We can only imagine the difficult decisions you may encounter as you work to develop a plan for your child and respect that whatever you choose holds your child’s best interests in mind.

Through our adoption profile, we hope to give you a small glimpse into who we are, where we come from, and the love we share in our family.

We are both honored and humbled that you took the time to get to know us through our profile. Our Story

One time at band camp… is how we first met! The year was 2010 and we were both members of the saxophone section in the Rutgers Marching Band. While there was an instant connection, we didn’t actually start dating until we reconnected at a homecoming football game seven years later. Brian decided to invite himself over to Kyle’s house to meet his dog, Phoebe, and the rest is history. We got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2021 in the comfort of our home and then we were married a year and a half later in August of 2023 at the top of a mountain surrounded by our family and friends.

We currently live in Central New Jersey, close to a lot of our family and surrounded by friends. Kyle grew up in Naples, Florida and decided to move to New Jersey for college, whereas Brian was born and raised in New Jersey. After a year of dating and seeing each other on weekends, as Kyle lived with his dog in a house in the woods and Brian lived with his parents, we decided to move in together. We moved into a townhouse in a close-knit, loving community and have been in that same unit for over five years now. We are very keen on making a place feel like home, so ours is filled with pictures and memorabilia representing many different aspects of our lives.

Professionally, we are both committed to serving our community and helping others, as Kyle works for an environmental non-profit in New Jersey and Brian works with children and adults both in public schools and in the community navigating mental health challenges. When we’re not working, we can be found volunteering, hiking, on the lawn hanging out with our neighbors, spending time with family, or attending a Rutgers event, as we are both proud alumni!

It’s been clear since the beginning of our relationship that we hold the same values for family and have wanted to grow our family in whatever way makes the most sense for us. We are confident that this adoption journey is right for us, and we hope to have the chance to one day be the very best dads to the child we adopt.

Kyle grew up in Naples, Florida before moving to New Jersey while Brian is a born and raised New Jersey native.
We met in the Rutgers University Marching Band during band camp in 2010 as we were both members of the saxophone section.
We were married in August 2023 on the top of a mountain in northern New Jersey surrounded by our friends and family.
Some of our favorite things to do include hiking with our dog Phoebe or just spending time outside, lounging on the lawn, soaking up the sun and fresh air.
We live in central New Jersey in a residential neighborhood. We love the community, as it’s filled with friendly families from all different parts of the world. A number of our neighbors have become some of our closest friends, and it’s not uncommon for one of our families to host a game night or set up an impromptu picnic on the lawn.
We are both from large families and see our family as very important to us. When we can, we love spending time with our siblings, nieces, and nephew, as well as our extended family.
We are both very passionate Rutgers alumni and fans. Brian’s sisters and parents all went to Rutgers, so he was born into the Rutgers culture whereas Kyle developed his love for the school through his time as an undergraduate. It’s not uncommon to see us attending Rutgers sporting events or community activities celebrating the school that we love.
Professionally, we are both very devoted to the work we do. Brian is a psychologist supporting children and families in need while Kyle spends his days advocating to support and protect the environment. It’s also fair to say that our dinner conversations are always very interesting.
Our dog, Phoebe, is our fur-baby and was rescued by Kyle about six months prior to dating Brian. Phoebe loves hiking, cuddles, and playing with all of her closest people — friends and family.
Inside our home, it’s clear that Kyle has an unrivaled love for plants that Brian’s warmed up to over time. Kyle also loves to bake and cook new recipes, while Brian loves to eat and is an honest but very appreciative food critic.

“Kyle is without a doubt the most loyal, selfless, and loving person I know. He has built his life around helping others and is constantly thinking about what he can do for others before he considers what to do for himself.

Kyle will often describe himself as introverted, appreciating time to himself to reset, but to many people around him, he seems incredibly extroverted. He’s often the life of the party, loves to joke and be surrounded by friends and family, and can usually be found laughing or even crying from laughing so hard. Kyle is also very decisive and knows what he wants, which is a quality I’ve grown to appreciate more and more about him over the years.

Within our family, Kyle is the uncle our nieces and nephew know they can count on to educate them about the environment, take them on a fun adventure, show up for school drop off if needed, or embark on a journey of make-believe when it’s time to play. He’s a listener, making people feel comfortable when they talk to him, and prides himself on being a great host. Kyle and I love to have people over, and Kyle finds this as a great excuse to put out a fun spread of snacks, appetizers, as well as a chance to try a new recipe he found online.

For the past eight years that we’ve been together, Kyle has been the most dedicated dog-dad, caring for our dog Phoebe in any way that she needs. Most notably, he makes it a point to bake her a special birthday cake every year, and one will most definitely find us singing in celebration before she gets to dig in. Kyle doesn’t miss special occasions, and knows how to make people (and our dog) feel loved and special. His passion transcends beyonds people and extends to his love for the environment and the many plant babies we’ve taken under our wing over the years.

“What can I say about Brian? He is not just my best friend but also the epitome of a people person. His warmth, loyalty, and genuine care for others make him someone everyone wants to be around. Whether one’s sharing a laugh or going through a tough time, Brian is always there, ready to listen with an open heart and a kind word. His dedication to family is something I admire deeply; nothing brings him more joy than our weekly Sunday dinners, where he can be surrounded by the people he loves most. Those moments are sacred to him, and it shows just how much he values the connections he has with each member of his family.

In our relationship, Brian and I have found a beautiful balance, learning to complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses in ways that make us both better. We understand each other in ways that words can’t fully capture, and together, we navigate life’s highs and lows with mutual respect and unwavering support.

Brian’s adventurous spirit is one of the many things I adore about him. Whether it’s waking up at the crack of dawn to hike with me, attending concerts for bands he’s never even heard of, or exploring new corners of the world together, Brian is always up for anything. His willingness to step out of his comfort zone and share in my passions is a testament to the love and commitment we share.

Brian is, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to me. He brings out the best in me, and I can’t imagine my life without him by my side. I know, deep in my heart, that one day he will make an incredible father, filled with the same love, care, and dedication he shows to everyone around him. I am so lucky to have found someone as amazing as Brian to share my life with.”

Our Home and Neighborhood

We have lived in a townhouse in Bridgewater, New Jersey since December of 2018 and we love that we get to call this place and this community our home. Kyle moved up to NJ from Florida in 2007 for college at Rutgers and never left, while Brian grew up just 30 minutes away in another suburban town in central NJ.

Our home is situated within a management community that has great amenities, including a pool, tennis courts, and ample walking paths for us to walk our dog. We are also situated a short walk away from a local park, and are able to go hiking within a 30 minute driving radius in any direction, which we love!

We are also surrounded by a community of neighbors that have become our family. We often will do game nights at each others’ houses, will not hesitate to pick up extra groceries at the store if someone needs something, and are always available to babysit or dog sit for one another if needed. We’ve developed some traditions over the years, and aside from impromptu picnics on the lawn, we also do annual holiday celebrations, such as our big neighborhood Christmas party every year.

Brian’s sisters and parents both live close to us, as well as Kyle’s grandmother, aunt, and uncle. We feel very fortunate to have such an incredible support system surrounding us, both emotionally and physically.

Our Family

Our family is quite large, close, and incredibly supportive. Family in general is very important to us, and we value the time we spend with our family.

Brian’s family, for the most part, all live in New Jersey within an hour from us. His parents, Bob and Sharon, live about 30 minutes away. They met at Rutgers in the marching band and have been married for over 35 years. His maternal grandmother also lives with them and is known affectionately as Grandma or to the great grandchildren, as Gigi. Brian has two sisters, Alison and Susan. Alison is 4 years older and lives about 20 minutes away with her husband and three children (Kaylee, Lexi, and Mia). One fun fact is that all three girls have the same birthday, as Kaylee was born in 2019 and her identical twin sisters were born on her birthday exactly two years later. Kaylee is five while her sisters are both three. Brian’s sister Susan is his twin, and she lives about 20 minutes away (in the opposite direction of Alison) with her boyfriend Rob. Both Alison and Susan are teachers, and Brian is very close with his parents and sisters. Typically, Brian’s family comes together about once a week (usually on Sundays) for dinners together. Brian’s extended family on his mom’s side also lives in New Jersey while his extended family on his dad’s side spans beyond New Jersey into Massachusetts and even as far as London, England.

Kyle’s immediate family lives in Florida, which is where he grew up. His mom and stepfather live in Naples along with some of his siblings. Kyle has seven siblings. He grew up with his two brothers and sister in Naples, Florida, before his three step siblings joined his blended family when he was in high school. Kyle’s older sister Rebekah is married to her husband Waldy and they have two children, Isabel and Jacob. Isabel is nine and Jacob is seven. They just moved back to the southeast part of Florida after living in Denver, Colorado for two years. His younger brother Andrew is married to his wife Shauna and they live right outside of Tampa. His youngest brother Jeff currently lives with his mom and stepfather in Naples. Kyle’s step-siblings all live in or around Naples and the oldest has three children with her husband. Despite being farther away, Kyle talks to his mom and siblings regularly, at least once a week, and sees them in person at least once a year but often more like two or three times a year. Kyle’s extended family is also spread out, with some aunts and uncles living in New Jersey along with his paternal grandmother, while others live in central Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. His mom is from Wisconsin and all of her family still lives there, including his maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

What is special to us is how family transcends physical barriers such as distance and time. We know that no matter what, our family has our back and is there for us, just as we are there for them. That’s what family means to us.

Our Friends

Our friends are a huge part of our lives, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have such loyal and caring friends. While some of our friends are local (some being our neighbors) or live not too far, others are quite far but have remained close through frequent phone calls or FaceTime chats.

Many of our friendships are those that even if they aren’t regular, when we meet up, it feels as if no time has passed at all. We often enjoy game nights with friends, hanging out at our house, exploring the outdoors on a hike or outdoor event, or supporting an event or performance that one of our friends’ is in.

The majority of our friends now have children of their own, and we’re often referred to as “uncles” to them and love getting to be such a big part of their lives as we watch them grow up. We like to consider our amazing group of friends as part of our family.

This is Phoebe

Phoebe is our dog, our dog-ter, our fur-baby, our best friend, and a huge part of our lives. Our friends often joke that Phoebe is the princess of our house, as we often give in to her and let her have what she wants (within reason of course).

She is a people-person through and through, and is often way more interested in interacting with people than she is with other dogs.

Phoebe loves to go on hikes or adventures outside, but also is a professional cuddle bug who knows exactly how to nuzzle her 62-pound body into the smallest space on our laps or on the couch to take a nap.

She is incredibly attuned to our emotions and will often know exactly when we might need some extra love or cuddles, providing us unconditional emotional support.

Phoebe is incredibly friendly with strangers and also great around children. She’s had a lot of practice modeling patience around our nieces or the neighborhood children who are quick to pet her or grab her from any angle.

She has taught us what it means to love unconditionally and is excited to share her love with a baby sibling we hope to adopt someday.
