Meet Olga
—as written by George
“I fell in love with Olga quickly, and I’ve spent much of the last ten years wondering how in the world I got lucky enough to be her partner. Olga is not only beautiful, she’s wise, patient, calming and humble. She may stand at only 5’2”, but anyone can feel Olga’s presence immediately in a room. She emanates calm, confidence, and warmth.
Olga loves education, and is passionate about music and gymnastics. She has an incredible singing voice and was the leader of her singing group at Yale. I’m convinced she could have been a platinum artist, but she never wanted to go in that direction. She’ll tell people she was never very good at gymnastics and then casually do a twisting back flip. I always thought I was a pretty good dancer, but then I went out dancing with Olga and learned there are whole different levels of dancing I could never dream of reaching. The trend is noticeable: Olga is very good at many things, but no one ever hears her boast or brag. She wants to hear about what the people in her life are good at. She wants to make them feel successful. Luckily, I can boast for her.
In our ten years together, we’ve lived in Denver, Jersey City, and now New Haven. We’ve traveled to Costa Rica, Scotland, Portugal, and all over the US. Olga’s always up for trying new things. Whether it’s traveling around the world or letting me teach her to snowboard, she brings curiosity and excitement to everything she does. The spark in her eyes is always there.
When she taught, students flocked to her because they could tell how much she cared for them. And while she was fun and positive, everyone knew Ms. Olga meant business. Her directions were always followed.
And now she’s an incredible mom to Yamilet. Yami’s smile can transform a room, but it’s brightest when she sees Olga. As I always knew she would, Olga took to motherhood with her unparalleled passion, dedication, and joy. When she’s not singing to, playing with, or feeding Yami, she’s researching the best ways to nurture her physical, mental, and emotional health. As our family grows, one thing I know for sure is we are all blessed to have Olga”.
Olga is very good at many things, but no one will ever hear her boast or brag. She wants to hear about what others are good at. She wants to make others feel successful”.
