Our Home
We bought our forever home in beautiful Northern New York in August of 2020. We are close in proximity to both sides of our family and love how we can experience all four seasons here.
The backyard is a perfect gathering place for our family and friends. It is surrounded by cedar hedges, contains a beautiful deck with a swimming pool, and even has a designated basketball court where we often play games.
We have spent time sprucing up the landscaping and adding beautiful flowers that bloom all summer long. Parker has two raised garden beds where he grows vegetables and herbs that our family uses in the kitchen. Once the snow has fallen, we can be found outside building a snowman or pulling Banks around the yard in his little blue sled.
The location of our home is not only a five-minute drive to work but also neighbors a cute little park and is very close to multiple walking trails.
Our Traditions
Holidays in our home are extremely special to us!
We have created traditions as a family that we hope to continue for years to come. We absolutely love to decorate for each holiday and even have themed shower curtains to follow our festive spirit!
Every autumn, we visit the local pumpkin patch and ride a tractor-pulled wagon into the field to pick the perfect pumpkins for our front steps.
When winter comes, we can be found baking sugar cookies one weekend in December, using Joshua’s secret family recipe. Each evening in December, we snuggle up on the couch and read a Christmas story leading up to Christmas Day. This is something Parker’s parents started when he was a young child, and we have carried on this tradition for Banks into our own home.
During springtime, we eagerly await the snow to melt so we can start planting our flowers, tend to our raised garden beds, and get our backyard summer ready! Banks loves to spend time outside, splashing in the puddles, and drawing with chalk.
Summer is full of family fun, and you can find us hosting or attending barbecues and pool parties on the weekends. Parker’s family throws a themed Fourth of July party each year. Everyone who attends dresses to match the theme of the party, and we spend the afternoon playing games and eating snacks. Joshua’s mother always hosts a Fourth of July firework party! She lives right on the lake, which makes it the perfect spot to light sparklers and view all the beautiful fireworks over the water. In the evenings, you can find the three of us at our favorite local ice cream stand, trying out different flavors and toppings!
We love the extra touch of magic felt in our home during these special times and all the memories we have created as a family at our home. Now, we eagerly anticipate sharing all of this, and much more, with the child we hope to adopt.
