We’re Kelsey and Perry — a loving, adventurous couple excited to grow our family through adoption. We live in Brooklyn, NY, and love being part of a diverse, vibrant community. We enjoy traveling, watching and playing sports, volunteering, rescuing animals, and doing our part to make the world a better place. Our home is full of laughter, books, good food, and lots of love — and we’re so ready to welcome a child into that joy and warmth.

Perry is a teacher who’s passionate about helping children learn, grow, and discover who they are. She especially loves nurturing a love of reading and helping her students find confidence and creativity. Kelsey has a huge heart for children and family — she’s always been the go-to “aunt” in our circle.

We can’t wait to build a family filled with love, learning, and support — and we would be honored if you felt a connection with us.

Our Story

We first met in 2018 through a community group. For two years, we were friendly acquaintances, each focused on our own lives and growth. But in June 2020, when meetings moved to Zoom during the height of the pandemic, Perry sent Kelsey a chat message asking if she’d like to meet for a socially distanced coffee in the park. That one coffee changed everything.

A whirlwind romance followed — but it wasn’t without real challenges. In our first year together, we navigated the uncertainty of the global pandemic, a major career change for Perry, the heartbreaking loss of Kelsey’s best friend Kati to cancer, and supported loved ones through difficult times. Through it all, we were there for each other — steady, compassionate, and deeply committed. We both knew from early on that this was something real and lasting.

In August 2021, Perry tied an opal ring around our cat Jerry’s neck and tried to propose — although she totally clammed up in the moment. Kelsey noticed the ring and said, “This is beautiful — is there an occasion?” After some heartfelt rambling, Perry got the words out. “This sure sounds an awful lot like you’re proposing to me,” Kelsey said. Perry replied, simply and sweetly, “Will you?”

Sometime after that, we adopted our beloved dog, Jimi. She quickly became the heart of our home, and we love her like our own child. Watching her confidence grow as we trained and cared for her helped us realize something we had both long hoped for — that we were ready to grow our family through adoption. It felt like the most natural next step in our journey together.

We met during the COVID pandemic and quickly became each other’s biggest supporters through life’s ups and downs.
Kelsey is a driven fashion designer with her own brand and teaches fashion design to inspire the next generation.
Perry loves crafting, baking, tending to her plants, and getting her “Martha Stewart” on. Whether she’s decorating, mixing up something sweet, or bringing new life to a space, her creativity and care make our home feel warm and personal.
Our family includes two rescue pets: Jerry, our sweet and vocal cat, and Jimi, our stubborn but lovable pitbull mix from the Virgin Islands.
We come from close-knit families who live near and far — from Brooklyn to Georgia to Montana — and we cherish the traditions and bonds we share.

Kelsey is a natural caretaker — whether it’s for people or animals — and Perry loves creating safe, nurturing spaces for all learners.

“If there’s one thing to know about Perry, it’s that she loves animals! Her big heart for furry friends has led us to foster over a dozen dogs, and she also volunteers with a local animal rescue — helping hundreds of dogs find their forever homes. I’ve seen her gently care for pups with deep fear and trauma, patiently earning their trust and helping them come out of their shells. It’s truly incredible to witness.

That same kindness, patience, and dedication shines in Perry’s work as a special education teacher. She creates a classroom where kids feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Whether she’s coming up with creative lessons, building a calming corner to help students manage anxiety, or simply offering a smile and encouragement, she makes every child feel like they matter. Her students adore her — so much so that they often come out to cheer her on at her marathon races! On top of teaching, she also volunteers in the school’s garden, hydroponics lab, and running club. She gives her all, and it shows.

Perry is full of energy and always on the move! She’s someone who loves setting new goals and seeing them through — whether it’s learning to surf, running a marathon, or leading her basketball team to a championship. She’s determined but never takes herself too seriously. She laughs easily, cheers others on, and is quick to shrug off a slow race time or missed shot — because for Perry, it’s about the joy of the journey and having fun along the way. That lighthearted spirit, combined with her drive and care, is one of the many reasons I know she’ll be an amazing mom.

Before teaching, Perry spent ten years cooking in some of NYC’s top restaurants — so yes, we are very spoiled! She fills our home with delicious, healthy meals and treats us with incredible homemade pies and cakes. She’s also a lifelong book lover and can’t wait to read stories to our child every night. With experience teaching nearly every grade from kindergarten to middle school, she’s going to be the ultimate homework helper, too!

Perry is truly one-of-a-kind! She is compassionate, creative, endlessly loving — and I can’t wait to see her become a mom. I know the child we adopt will feel safe, supported, and so very loved with her by their side.”

She’s smart, informed, and deeply passionate about justice and equity. She cares deeply about her community and takes action — whether that’s canvassing, writing letters to her Congresswoman and meeting with them, or finding ways to make real change. When she believes in something, she puts her whole heart into it.

I know without a doubt that Kelsey will be an incredible parent. The Place We Call Home

We live in Bushwick, Brooklyn — one of the most creative, colorful, and diverse neighborhoods in New York City. Our block is full of friendly faces, music in the air, and murals on nearly every wall. It’s a lively, artistic area with a strong Hispanic community, and we feel incredibly lucky to call it home.

One of the things we love most is how connected we are. Our friends, recovery community, coffee spots, and favorite parks are all within walking distance. There’s a real neighborhood feel here — a mix of families, artists, small businesses, and people from all different backgrounds. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows their neighbors, and anyone is just as likely to run into a friend at the bodega as at a gallery opening.

We love that New York City is our backyard. We spend weekends exploring museums, seeing Broadway shows, catching concerts, and walking through Prospect Park or along the waterfront. We go to the ballet, try cuisines from every corner of the world, and discover new favorite spots all the time. The child we hope to adopt will have the opportunity to grow up surrounded by culture, art, diversity, and endless learning experiences.

Even though we’re city people, we also love nature. We’re just a short drive or train ride from incredible hiking spots, peaceful lakes, and waterfalls. Day trips upstate for some fresh air and adventure are one of our favorite ways to recharge.

Our home is warm and welcoming — filled with books, music, creativity, and love. We can’t wait to raise a child here, surrounded by all the richness and opportunity our community has to offer.

Our Family

Family is everything to us. We’ve both been lucky to grow up surrounded by love, support, and a lot of laughter — and we’re even luckier that our families are still such a big part of our lives today.

Perry is a born-and-raised New Yorker, and her family is still close by. One of her favorite traditions is visiting her grandmother in Brooklyn near Coney Island — they share a love for the same pizza place and often swap recipes and stories from the kitchen. Perry’s aunt and uncle also live in New York, and they’ve built their own traditions too — like surfing trips with her uncle, movie and TV marathons with her aunt, and trying every new restaurant that opens up around the city.

Perry is also very close with her brother, who lives in Connecticut with his wife and their two wonderful kids. We both adore our niece and nephew and love spending time with them — from vacations together to movie nights and holiday traditions. They are so excited to be cousins someday! Perry’s parents live nearby in Connecticut as well, and they’ve been a huge part of our lives and our journey to become parents.

Kelsey grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and remains incredibly close to her parents and her brother, who now lives in Montana. Her family shares a deep love for Georgia football (Saturdays are serious!) and time together is filled with fun, games, and plenty of cheering. Kelsey has a large extended family, with lots of aunts, uncles, and young cousins — and she’s learned so much about caring for children from growing up surrounded by little ones and pitching in to help.

Together, we’ve built a home rooted in those same family values — love, connection, and showing up for each other. We’re grateful every day for our families’ support, and we know they’ll shower the child we adopt with that same unconditional love. Whether it’s pizza nights in Brooklyn, game days in Georgia, family beach vacations, or quiet afternoons with cousins — our future child will be surrounded by people who can’t wait to love and grow with them.

Our Friends

We feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by an amazing circle of friends — people who have become chosen family to us. Whether we’re roller skating in the park, exploring the Botanical Gardens, heading to the beach, or hosting a backyard BBQ, our life is filled with connection, laughter, and community.

On any given weekend, our loved ones can find us catching up with friends over coffee, meeting up for a neighborhood walk, or planning something fun to do together. Spending time with our friends — and their kids — is something we truly love. We’ve watched their children grow up, celebrated milestones, and learned so much from being part of their lives. Our friends’ kids already call us their “fun aunties,” and we can’t wait for them to be part of our own child’s world, too.

We also have close friends scattered around the globe — from New Orleans to Los Angeles, London to Australia — and we make it a point to stay connected. Whether it’s through travel, group chats, FaceTime calls, or planning reunions, we keep those bonds strong and active. These friendships have been with us through every part of life’s journey, and they’ll be here to welcome and support the newest member of our family, too.

Our friends are kind, creative, loving, and full of joy — and the child we hope to adopt will grow up surrounded by so many people who will cheer them on, show up for them, and love them unconditionally.

Our Four-Legged Family

Our little family wouldn’t be complete without our two amazing rescue pets — Jerry the cat and Jimi the dog. They bring so much joy, personality, and love into our home every day.

Jerry was adopted as a kitten from a litter of rescues. From the moment we met her, she purred nonstop and curled right into our arms. She’s incredibly sweet, cuddly, and very vocal — she always has something to say. Jerry loves visitors and greets everyone like an old friend. She’s happiest perched in a sunny window or curled up next to us on the couch. She makes our home feel extra cozy and full of life.

Jimi is our lovable, opinionated pitbull mix. She came to us from St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, and we adopted her when she was about two years old (or so we think — she’s mysterious like that). Jimi is strong-willed, smart, and totally runs the house. She lets us know when it’s time for dinner, walks, or attention — and we’re more than happy to follow her lead. She’s an adventurer at heart and loves long runs, hikes in the woods, and discovering new places with us.

Both Jerry and Jimi are gentle, affectionate, and wonderful with kids. They’ve taught us a lot about love, patience, and caring for someone else — and we know they’ll be the best big sister and furry protector combo when we welcome a child into our home.

We both feel so fortunate to have careers that inspire us every day — and that allow us to grow, connect with others, and make a difference in the world.

Perry is a dedicated special education teacher. She loves getting to know each of her students and designing creative, inclusive ways to help every kind of learner thrive. Whether she’s building a customized curriculum, finding new ways to spark curiosity, or celebrating a student’s breakthrough moment, Perry puts her heart into the classroom. Teaching has taught her patience, empathy, and how to meet each child exactly where they are — lessons she knows will carry into motherhood.

Kelsey is a fashion designer and the founder of her own clothing brand. She creates custom looks for musicians, performers, and clients all over the world — and loves dreaming up bold, beautiful designs that help people feel confident and seen. This fall, she’s beginning an exciting new chapter as a professor, teaching fashion design to creative young minds at a local university. Kelsey loves mentoring others, and she’s thrilled to share her passion for design with the next generation.

Our careers mean a lot to us — not just as creative outlets, but as ways to connect with others and contribute to our communities. We’re excited to bring that same creativity, compassion, and dedication into our future as parents.

As a teacher, Perry connects with children in a natural way. She makes them feel heard and inspired by asking them engaging questions and offering the right balance of freedom and structure.

Most importantly, Kelsey and Perry are not just creative and reliable people; they also have the emotional intelligence and patience required to help a child thrive through the many ups and downs that life brings.”

“I have known Kelsey for 20 years, since she was a design student at Parsons. I was living across the hall from her in Brooklyn apartments. She was the first person to teach me that parties could have a theme — and the theme is the color pink. And that is half the fun.

Kelsey is loving, smart, kind, fun, considerate, creative, hard-working — and somehow divinely inspired. She has an incredible career as both a stylist and designer — and an ability to share her gift. I have two style-enthusiastic children, something I personally have zero experience with, and my kids think of her as a fairy godmother. She finds the time (even as the host of her own party) to take the kids to her studio, show them around, let them explore and experiment, and somehow emerge thinking that THEY are the designers. She makes kids feel special, and seen, and celebrated.

Enter Perry, her perfect partner. They have complementary superpowers — Perry is exceedingly real, grounded, and insightful — and we all admire her. She makes every topic funny, somehow hilarious, and serious at the same time.

In my next life, I would like to come back as Kelsey and Perry’s child. I would have a stable home, nurturing parents who know how to talk AND listen to me, lots of pets and foster pets, trips around the world, mommies who love dessert, mommies who live a life of activism and endless adventures, one teacher mommy, and one mommy that would be sure I was dressed well for all of it.
