Hello! We are Sean and Meghan from the Capital Region of New York. Thank you for visiting our adoption profile. We hope to give you a glimpse into our lives and the life we could provide for your child if we are fortunate enough to be selected. We couldn’t be more appreciative or grateful at the possibility of being chosen to share our love and grow our family through adoption.

Our story has two beginnings: June 2013, the first time Sean saw Meghan walking down Hanover Street in Boston’s North End. It wasn’t until years later that he confessed to Meghan that he saw her on the street that night — “I was trying to play it cool, I suppose.” The second beginning was in August 2013, when we were introduced to one another at a barbecue at Sean’s former roommate’s new apartment.
We spent the rest of that August afternoon listening from the street to Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake perform inside Fenway Park in Boston. Then, we spent hours strolling around the city, lost in conversation, not realizing what that night would eventually mean to us.
Fast forward 15 months to December 2014, when we were getting married in front of our parents and siblings on a beautiful snowy Boston afternoon. We were living in the city’s North End neighborhood at the time. Sean worked in construction, and Meghan was the director of fine arts at a high school on the North Shore.
In August 2017, we moved three hours west to Upstate New York, where Meghan grew up. The move meant a career change for Sean and confirmation he had gone after his dream job: He became a journalist for a local weekly newspaper in the area. At the same time, Meghan continued her beloved career as an art teacher at a nearby high school. Five years later, comfortable and content in our professional lives, we are now placing roots in our chosen community.
Our primary focus continues to be on family life. We both come from large, close-knit families, each of us has three siblings, and we truly cherish the time we spend with our parents, siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. We enjoy being involved in the lives of our nine nieces and nephews and can’t wait to add another cousin to the mix!

“Anyone with the privilege of meeting Sean for any amount of time would describe him as lovable. I’ve never actually met anyone more precious in my life! Whether someone is nine months or 90 years old, they’re drawn to this sweet guy. He lights up a room, keeps it bright, and no one ever forgets time spent with Sean.
Brilliant would be the second word that comes to mind when describing Sean. He knows so much, about so much! He never quenches his thirst for knowledge. He will take a deep dive into any topic possible. Most teachers and parents could only dream about Sean’s ability to share his wisdom with others. I know our child will learn amazing things from him, just as I have been able to every day for the last 3,285 days.
Sean is also known for being a fantastic communicator, which may be an obvious observation for someone who gets paid to enlighten people each week as a journalist. Still, his ability to communicate is also vital in his relationships. I could not ask for a better communicator in a husband. We thoroughly discuss everything from the tiniest detail to the most significant decision.
Sean is the love of my life, my best friend, and my teammate. I am beyond grateful to have this genuinely fantastic human being in my life. We have so much fun together and share many laughs and adventures. He makes me a better person every day.
We would love to add another member to our team to help us create more wonderful family memories. Sean will be a tremendous father who will thoughtfully impart his love, curiosity for life, and brilliance to our child. I get excited just thinking about it”!

“Just thinking about Meghan brings a smile to my face. She’s the perfect partner. I know this because she genuinely makes me laugh like no one else.
Meghan’s sense of humor runs the gamut from silly to highbrow and from brilliant to surrealist. Yet, she’s still the most thoughtful, caring, loving, and understanding person I’ve ever met. These things make Meghan so unique. And just by being herself, she’s made me a much better person.
One of the things I admire most about Meghan is the way she maintains her non-familial relationships. Everywhere she’s taught, not only has she flourished professionally — having been named chair of the art department in multiple school districts — but personally as well. She has made lifelong friendships with people whom she spent no more than a year or two working alongside. I love this characteristic of hers so much because it speaks volumes about who she is as a person: Someone who cares deeply about others. Most people can’t remember the faces, let alone names, of former colleagues with whom they worked with for two years over a decade ago. Meghan not only remembers the names and faces, it’s likely that former co-workers received a handwritten note just to say she’s thinking about them — and the letter recipients couldn’t be more grateful to know someone is out there just hoping they’re having a good day. I’m in constant awe of her.
While there are so many things I love about Meghan, what I appreciate and admire most about her is her work ethic. Her mother and father instilled this trait in her, and it’s still so plainly evident in her today. Meghan puts maximum effort into everything she does. It’s why she’s not just a good teacher but a great one — and this isn’t just me saying so: She’s been the chair of multiple art departments.
I often tease Meghan for growing up in, what I call, such an idyllic place and time. But the truth is, I love how she grew up because it made Meghan who she is. She has an outlook on life that is eternally optimistic; she sees the best in people. That is why I know we’ll be OK, even in the most challenging times. And it’s why there’s nothing I am more confident of in this life when I say Meghan will be a fantastic mother. She’s been working toward it her entire life”.

We live in a beautiful neighborhood in Schenectady, New York, a part of the city steeped in history and rich with diversity. We chose this tree-lined street because of its access to the area’s local shops, restaurants, parks, and the city’s weekly farmers’ market.
Our home features a spacious open-concept first floor that is perfect for large family gatherings. Its modern design and historic architectural elements have provided the perfect blank canvas for Meghan’s meaningful wall gallery of family photos and artifacts.
We often talk about our excitement at having the family we built together around our kitchen table at dinner — because when we grew up, dinner was the time for our families to come together. We hope to gather around the table soon, sharing meals, creating art, and making many memories with the child we adopt!
We can’t wait to carry on our family’s traditions within our own family unit.
We are fortunate to live near Meghan’s large, close-knit family in New York’s Capital Region. Meghan’s mother is retired and cares for her youngest grandchild during the day. Meghan is the youngest of four, all of whom she has been close her entire life.
Meghan’s oldest sister is an elementary school principal, whose husband is a teacher. They have three daughters.
Meghan’s other sister works in customer service. She has a daughter and a son.
Meghan’s brother is a municipal employee and is married to a teacher. They have two young daughters, who can’t wait to play with a new little cousin.
Meghan has fond memories of large family gatherings, countless holiday traditions, and vacations to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She is excited to continue these traditions with our own family.
We spend our holidays with the side of our family who lives farthest away, which has been Sean’s for the past five years. It’s a tradition that started when we were living in Boston. Sean’s parents and siblings all live a few hours east in Massachusetts. His mother, father, brother, and two sisters (one married with two children) have been living in a suburb southeast of Boston since the early ’90s when the family moved there from the city.
As a homemaker, Sean’s mother was all things to all children growing up. While his father’s job was more of a family affair, with immediate and extended family all getting in on the act. When Sean’s father and two brothers arrived in America from Ireland, they joined one of Boston’s local laborers’ unions. Sean spent over a decade working as a laborer before changing careers; his brother continues in the trade. Sean has two cousins still in the industry; both are laborers and thriving. One is the owner of a successful electrical engineering company, and the other is now a job-site superintendent, the man in charge.
Up until recently, both of Sean’s sisters worked in education. His younger sister continues as a middle-school math teacher. In contrast, his other sister, who had been a teaching assistant, left for a job in childcare.
Since 2013, we’ve enjoyed many adventures together. Exploring a new city and experiencing all it has to offer is one of our favorite pastimes. Whether it’s a week on the road or just a quick day trip, we know we’ve each found our perfect travel partner! We’re so excited to continue our adventures as we grow our family through adoption and to introduce the child we adopt to fabulous places in our community, throughout the northeast, and beyond.

“Meghan has been a caretaker of children from an early age, as she became an aunt at 14. She is kind, patient, and fun-loving. Meghan enjoys planning activities and experiences for her students, her nieces, nephews, and children of friends. Her balance of artistic and athletic interests and abilities appeals to children of all ages. Meghan knows what interests children. She is willing to clean up a mess if a child is painting, crafting, playing outside in the snow, or crumbling play-doh. Meghan understands that spending time with a child, reading, playing, and learning with hands-on activities is crucial, especially at early ages. Meghan’s love of children, family-centered heart, and dedication to those she loves would give any child a home in which they will always know they are loved and cared for unconditionally”.

“Sean has always shown me to be a reliable presence, someone that is there for me and available to offer support. His strong character is evenly matched by his light-heartedness and humor. If Sean becomes a parent, I think the laughs from that child would be endless. Lastly, the love Sean has for his wife is beyond special. You can feel it when you watch them interact. Meghan could not be any sweeter and more thoughtful. They are an incredible example of what a married couple should be like — and I wholeheartedly know they will also set an incredible example of what parents should be like. I’m rooting for them as they embark on this journey to grow their family”.
