by Dawn Smith Pliner, Founding Director, Friends in Adoption
Friends in Adoption is a non-profit, pro-choice, licensed agency with a focus on helping people make informed decisions concerning adoption. Since our inception in 1982, our agency has practiced Compassionate Adoption. We are always looking for like-minded organizations to join our circle of support for women and families making informed choices regarding their pregnancies.
Nan and I recently had the honor of meeting Meg, the Founder and Executive Director of Plants for Patients. I knew our organizations were soul mates when I read from their website, www.plantsforpatients.com, this paragraph: “Plants for Patients is an idea; it’s a framework for doing good work in our communities. The program identifies as neither pro-choice nor anti-abortion, but exists in the space between, a space we call pro-compassion. This framework allows us to warmly welcome people of differing views, beliefs and opinions to support women in need.” Each person they serve receives a handmade pot with a plant to give them hope for the future and something to take care of.
If you have a few minutes you might want to check them out. I “liked” their Facebook Page (Plants for Patients) today, with a gentle smile as I did so.
