Hello! This form was created exclusively for Potential Adoptive Parent Candidates who wish to register to one of our Get Acquainted Workshops (GAW).

The GAW is an Adoption Master Class about the process of how to adopt an infant child. We will discuss all the steps of an adoption process: before, during, and beyond. The workshop will be presented via Zoom so you can attend and participate from the comfort of your home.

Whether you’re applying individually or as a couple, attending the GAW is a required first step if you’re considering Friends in Adoption as your path to adoption. That said, attending the workshop does not obligate you to move forward with us.

No-Refund Policy(Required)

This policy allows Friends in Adoption to plan accordingly for this workshop. Depending on the number of registrants and on the public demand, we are able to stop accepting new registrations at any given time, without further notice — and as in such, we cannot offer refunds. No exceptions. We dedicate a lot of time and effort in preparation for this workshop, which involves countless hours of thoughtful work by many professionals. The workshop fee helps us offset some of these costs. Registering for a workshop of this nature is a commitment for all of us — organizers, presenters, and attendees. We do care and sympathize with emergencies, but as a non-profit organization, we are unable to take on the financial responsibility of those who did not attend the workshop because of personal issues which are out of everyone's control. We appreciate your understanding.

If I decide to join Friends in Adoption later on, after the 6 months from the workshop date have passed, I will need to register again, and attend another GAW.

Terms and Conditions 2(Required)

By checking this box, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to the following terms: Children (including all adorable babies) may not attend the GAW due to the sensitive nature of the workshop. Also, pets cannot be on-camera while a presenter is speaking (it's okay if they make a cameo appearance during breaks or intro). We know, they are very cute, but they can be a distraction for our workshop speakers and guests.

The Get Acquainted Workshop (GAW) will provide attendees with an overall education on adoption and the adoption process with Friends in Adoption. Participants will have an opportunity after the workshop to have all questions answered to determine if Friends in Adoption is the right agency for them.

Since we are not the right agency for everyone, we want to make sure you have as much information as possible prior to registering for the Get Acquainted Workshop and making a two-day commitment.

Requirement to Adopt (1):(Required)

By checking this box, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to the following policy: I embrace Friends in Adoption’s policy that adoptive families should view biological families as extended family, and that whether the connection is vocal or silent the biological family will be treated with the utmost respect and compassion. This commitment to kindness and compassion extends to every birth parent and every birth family, regardless of their background, personal history, circumstances, or the timing or details of any adoption placement.

By checking this box, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to the following policy: I agree to embrace openness in my adoption. I understand that Friends in Adoption’s minimum requirement includes participating in three visits per year and sharing photos and letters four times per year (and possibly more frequently at the beginning) with my child’s birth family. In the event the birth family does not request visits initially, I agree to engage in visits if they are requested in the future.

By checking this box, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to the following policy: I understand and embrace Friends in Adoption’s policy that I must be open to working with a biological family considering adoption for any reason. Biological parents consider adoption for many reasons. These include but are not limited to: not ready to be a parent, too late for an abortion, college or other future plans, rape, already parenting other children and unable to parent another child, raised children who are now adults and not ready to start over, involvement with social services, substance abuse, mental illness, jail sentence, no help or support system, domestic violence, never planned on parenting, breaking the cycle.
