Adoption is not giving up ON a child. Adoption is a selfless act of love FOR the child.
One of the questions that we often hear from pregnant women facing an unplanned pregnancy is: “how do I give my baby up for adoption?”
When an expectant mother is considering adoption for her baby, it is much more than just “giving a baby up for adoption”. It means making an adoption plan for her child, and it means a lot of courage and incredible sacrifice on her part. She knows she is giving her baby a future in a warm and loving home, full of laughter, hugs, kisses.
Friends in Adoption offers each pregnant woman/couple access to adoption profiles of our approved, waiting families. They are beautiful books with detailed pictures and text about the adoptive families. By reading and selecting family adoption profiles, a pregnant woman is able to review potential adoptive parents who are ready, willing and able to adopt a child from anywhere in the United States. By selecting waiting families, the expectant mother is in control of who will adopt her baby. She is not giving up her baby, she is choosing a life she dreams for her baby.
“Placing my child for adoption was a decision I had thought about a lot while I was pregnant and I knew that’s what I wanted for my baby. I was unable to give him or her all that they needed. I was lucky and got to meet the adoptive parents that I chose for my baby and form a relationship with them for 3 months. They were there at our daughter’s birth. I spent 3 days with my daughter and her adoptive parents in the hospital. I got to see them form that parent/child bond and that was really special. I really felt like I had made the right choice and since I knew where she was going to be over the years that just made it better.”
